Ugly little buggers. I was going to blog about something else, but was looking out my window admiring the beautiful Hot Pink roses that grace my window and what did I see but aphids. I was so surprised, we have not had any in years. The reason? I know a trick and here it is: A dash of dish soap (biodegradable is best) and one part food oil to two parts water mixed in a spray bottle will does the trick. Bye, bye aphids!

Another thing I read is to plant Marigolds around your roses. Aphids hate the smell apparently and will not stick around.
Ahhhhh those pesky things. I have used dish soap and water before but never with oil, sounds like a good idea, thank you :)
Beautiful roses! Luckly, we yet to have an Aphid problem. Throughout the Summer, we buy a few bags of Ladybugs (almost all local Nurseries have them), and my little girl lets them loose in our garden. Bye, bye Aphids, indeed!
I think that is what has been eating the leaves off my red Knockout rose. I'm going to try that recipe. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a try.
I am going to try that. I have always used soap, but never oil in with it. Thank YOU!
Now thank you so very much! I really, and I do mean REALLY, need to get rid of those aphids. My roses are just swallowed up in them. Tried the ladybugs and it's not quite getting the task done. Probably started them a wee bit late for how bad they had gotten. So thanks again for this great tip!
Shotguns work too. (Oh my gosh, I'll probably get kicked off Bloomin' Tuesday for that dumb remark!) Anyway, I've used the dish soap and oil too and it really does work. Better than a shot gun, I'm sure.
Yucky things, I usually blast them with cold water from the hose, but thanks for the tips! :)
Thanks for the great tip! I dont' have aphids very often, but when theycome they can destroy everything! I will keep this in my book. Love your blog! Paula in Idaho
I never knew that. Boy am I ever so grateful that you shared this tip. Thank you so much. Those little buggers are just awful.
Great tip! I have never seen them on my plants, and hopefully it stays that way!
Welcome to Bloomin' Tuesday! Thanks for the great tip! Jean
Interesting to come across your post... I noticed a magnolia in my yard today that is covered with aphids... I've never seen that situation before on a magnolia... I'll have to try your solution tomorrow, although there are an awful lot of leafs to hit! Larry
Aphids are all over my roses this year too...I am going to use your treatment...thanks for the tip. I have heard of this before...:)
The Great Aphid Invasion has struck our yard already this year and I (shamed!) bought icky stuff. I'll definitely switch to your recipe...Thanks for the tip...
yep!!! that's the recipe!!! I hope it works. I hate aphids...they come hand in hand with ants...and they aren't much better!
thanks for linking in this week! see you again soon I hope!
